Eleonora 'Ellie' (Rathe) Smith

BEAVER CITY -- Eleonora "Ellie" L. (Rathe) Smith, 88, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at the Beaver City Manor.

She was born August 3, 1914, in Matteson, Ill., to Albert H. and Bertha (Braun) Rathe.

In May of 1956, she married Eugene L. Smith.

She was a member of the Lutheran faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene on March 22, 2002; one son, Ervin; five brothers, Paul, Edmund, Albert, Walter and Arthur Rathe; and two sisters, Mildred Wegener and Louise Zander.

She is survived by a son, Henry of Oregon; and grandchildren.

Funeral services were today, 10 a.m., at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with the Rev. Timm Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Memorials may be given in her name.
