Marvin D. Amstuz
CURTIS -- Marvin D. Amstuz, 75, died Wednesday (Jan. 22, 203) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Oct. 11, 1927, at Wellfleet, to Oscar and Rachel (Hall) Amstuz. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis in 1945. He farmed with his father south of Stockville before entering the military. He served in the Army from Sept. 11, 1950 to Aug. 18, 1952. He returned to the farm after begin discharged.
On Oct. 19, 1952, he married Frances Meininger in Los Angeles, Calif. They lived on the farm until 1997, when they moved to Curtis.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 95 in Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Doug.
Survivors include his wife, Frances of Curtis; one daughter, Valerie Thayer of Lincoln; one son, Shane Thayer of Lincoln; one brother, Oscar Amstuz, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; and five sisters, June Kugler of Tacoma, Wash., Verla Goforth of Cayucos, Calif.; Veda and husband, Bob Thomsen of Gibbon, Donna Jean Collins of North Platte and Joan and husband, Deloit Messersmith of Hayes Center.
Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at the Congregational Church in Stockville with the Rev. Rod Forrester officiating. Burial will be in the Arbor Cemetery at Stockville.
Visitation is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in his name.
