Clifford Leroy Ruppert, 95, died Saturday (Feb. 15, 2003) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
He was born May, 15, 1907, to Henry Charles and Katherine (Nussbaum) Ruppert in Quick. He attended rural District No. 101 school.
On Dec. 15, 1928, he married Nellie Agnes Boson in Oberlin. The couple made their home on a farm north of McCook until their retirement.
He was a member of Garden Prairie United Methodist Church, a life-time member of Farm Bureau, Maywood Co-op Board and Frontier County Assessor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nellie in 1993; one daughter, Norma Sorge; three grandchildren, Doug Greenlee, Barbara Werkmeister and Jolene Ruppert; one great-great-grandson, Eric Werkmeister; two sisters, Faunty Hill and Blanche Moulton; and seven brothers, Bertie, Lloyd, Earl, Homer, Henry, Charles and Jay Ruppert.
Survivors include his son, Otis Ruppert and wife, Bonnie of McCook; three daughters, Roberta and husband, Ray Werkmeister of Palisade, Viola and husband, Jim Greenlee of Columbia, Mo., and Shirley and husband, Larry Schlem of Ogallala; son-in-law, Roger Sorge of Gurley; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Pastor Rod Forrester officiating. Interment will be at Garden Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is today, until 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
