She was born Sept. 19, 1906, to George and Annie (Barnett) McChesney in Norcatur. She was raised near Norcatur and attended Republic County Schools and Highland School in Norton.
On Oct. 1, 1924, she married Ora H. Gillespie in Oberlin. She was a homemaker in Clayton for 49 years and then she moved to Jennings and then to the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was a member of Rebecca's Lodge and Royal Neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; two brothers; two step-sisters; and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Elton and wife, Jean Gillespie of Clayton, Kan.; and five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Keller officiating. Interment will be in Norcatur Cemetery in Norcatur.
Visitation will be today, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to service time.
Memorials may be given in her name to Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
