Mamie Marie Capps Wohlrab

ATWOOD -- Mamie Marie (Capps) Wohlrab, 90, formerly of Belleville, Ill., died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003) at the Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

She was born April 25, 1912, in Benton, Mo., to Raymond S. and Flora (Boyd) Capps. She attended St. Theresa's Academy in East St. Louis, Ill.

On June 25, 1929, she married Frank William Wohlrab in East St. Louis. She was a homemaker, returning to the workplace in 1955, at Obear-Nester in East St. Louis. She moved to Atwood in May of 2000 to live with her daughter, after living seven years in Austin, Texas.

She was a former member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill., and later, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank in 1983; a daughter, Franey; and a brother, Boyd Capps.

Survivors include two sons, Frank W. Wohlrab, Jr., of Fenton, Mo., and Dr. Eric P. Wohlrab of LaPorte, Ind.; daughter, Sheila and husband, Dean Lankas of Atwood; sister, Mary Elizabeth Grogan of Collinsville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Andrew Knopik officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville.

Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m., at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, in Belleville.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Atwood Second Century Fund or to the Atwood City Library in care of Brantley Funeral Home, 215 S. Fourth St., Atwood, KS 67730.
