ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Edna Lois Pierce, 81, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2003) in Albuquerque, N.M.

She was born Jan. 25, 1922, at Stratton, to Gustaf and Hazel (Wollam) Miller and grew up on her family's farm south of Stratton.

On July 19, 1942, she married Dwight E. Pierce. Together, they farmed for more than 30 years on a ranch north of Stratton. They raised various grains, and registered Black Angus cattle that were sold and recognized over much of the United States. In 1969, they moved to Albuquerque, to be near their sons and their families.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Dwight E. Pierce; and brother, Maurice Miller.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Pierce and wife, Sharon, and Jim Pierce and wife, Jan, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Fern Nilson of Aurora, and Verna May Felts of Warsaw, Ind.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Christian Union Church in Stratton, with the Rev. Steven Kellett officiating. Inurnment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton.

There will be no visitation.
