Rochelle A. Cox, 66, died Saturday (March 1, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Dec. 27, 1936, in Jefferson, S.D., to Louis and Eva E. (Beaubien) Girard. At the age of four, her family moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she grew up and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School at Long Beach in 1953.
On Feb. 25, 1954, she married Stanley L. Cox in Long Beach. They moved to McCook in 1954, where she spent the remainder of her life. She was employed at Woolworths and the Red Willow County Fair Board.
She did volunteer work for the McCook Humane Society and was a ballot counter for the Red Willow Court House. She was active with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and one son, Stanley Cox, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Cox; one daughter, Ernestine and husband, Robert Smith; two sons, Cloyd Cox and Kevin Cox and wife, Pam all of McCook; her father, Louis Girard of McCook; one brother, Darrell Girard of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one sister, Marsha and husband, Don Meinert of Palmdale, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Bruce Lester officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at the funeral home.
