NORTON, Kan. -- Mildred Dean, 79, died Thursday (March 6, 2003) at her home in Norton, Kan.
She was born Sept. 22, 1923, on a farm southeast of Dresden, to Ross and Mabel (Beckwith) Tice. She attended Fairview Country School and graduated from Dresden High School in 1941.
On Sept. 26, she married Jack L. Dean in Corpus Christi, Texas. They resided in various cities in America while he was in the service. In 1953, they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., and later moved to Selden and Oakley, Kan., before moving to Norton in 1980. She was a homemaker and helped her husband at High Plains Saddlery & Shoe Repair for 11 years in Oakley.
She was a member of the Dresden United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Dean; one sister, Maida Anderson; one brother, Merlin Tice; and one brother-in-law, Francis St. Clair.
Survivors include one sister, Marilyn St. Clair of Oberlin; and one sister-in-law, Grace Tice of Hoxie, Kan.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Glenn Krebs officiating. Interment will be in the Dresden Cemetery at Dresden.
Visitation is Sunday from 1-8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be given in her name.
