John Brenning, 95, died Saturday (March 15, 2003) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
He was born Jan. 9, 1908, at McCook, to Henry and Christina (Yost) Brenning. He grew up in McCook.
He served the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Sept. 29, 1945, he married Marie Yeager. They farmed and he worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for many years.
He was baptized, confirmed in and a member of the Westside Congregational Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; brothers, Daniel, Abraham and Joseph; and five sisters, Dollie Wagner, Hilda Harsch, Mary Spahn, Esther Reske and Katherine Langford.
Survivors include his sister, Alice Brenning of Bakersfield, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. and Tuesday until time of service.
Memorials may be given to the Gideons.
