Gilbert William Schumacher, 65, died Wednesday (March 26, 2003) at Bryan Lincoln General Hospital West in Lincoln.
He was born Aug. 5, 1937, at Fort Collins, Colo., to Theodore F. and Louise M. (Zimmerman) Schumacher. He had resided at the McCook South West Area Training Service, Dorm No. 5, since 1998. He also participated in the SWATS activities winning several medals.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Theodore and Louise Schumacher; and one brother, Kenneth Schumacher.
Survivors include his two sisters, Anne Silva of Hanford, Calif., and Mary and husband, Lyle Moskal, of McCook; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Garden, Greeley, Colo., at a later time.
Rosary will be Friday, at 6:30 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday until time of the rosary.
Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Senior Center or SWATS.
