CAMBRIDGE -- Donna Rae Keefer, 69, died Wednesday (April 9, 2003) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 20, 1933, in Albion, to Ray and Senada (Redler) Wheeler. She attended school in Columbus and graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1951.
On May 31, 1954, she married Richard Keefer. The couple lived in Columbus, later moving to Holdrege in 1964, and then to Kearney in 1966. While in Kearney she was employed by the Old Home Bread Store and also worked for the University of Nebraska at Kearney Food Service. She was a homemaker. Upon retirement, they moved to a cabin at Harry Strunk Lake near Cambridge in 1991.
She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Church in Cambridge for 12 years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney from 1966 until 1991.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Nick Wheeler.
Survivors include her husband, Dick of Cambridge; three daughters, Kris and husband, Rob of Stafford, Va., Kay and husband, Mark Oliver of Auburn and Lisa and husband, Jai Andrist of Gibbon; three sons, Rick and wife, Cyndi of Gibbon, Tim and wife, Sheryl of Bellevue and Scott and wife, Ann of Kearney; a sister, Dianne and husband, Norbert Foltz of Verdigre; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with the Rev. Mike McDonald officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell at 1 p.m.
A Christian wake service will be Sunday, 5 p.m., at St. James Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Kearney Catholic High School Wrestling Team or the American Heart Association for Stroke Research.
