Ruth Y. Pedersen

NORTH PLATTE -- Ruth Y. Pedersen, 55, died Thursday (May 8, 2003) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Oct. 5, 1947, in North Platte, to Robert Leland and Mildred Josephine Spencer Welch. She attended school in Farnam and graduated in 1965.

On Sept. 6, 1964, she married Kenneth Lee Pedersen in Farnam. They moved to North Platte in 1971, where she continued her education at Mid Plains Community College and received her licensed practical nurse license in 1976, and surgical tech in 1984. She worked at Great Plains Regional Medical Center for 22 years and was presently employed at the North Platte Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic for five years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Ken of North Platte; a daughter, Brenda and husband, Jim Clair; two sons, David Pedersen Sr. and wife, Stacy and Troy Pedersen and wife, Doreen all of Maxwell; two brothers, Douglas Welch and wife, Terry of Curtis and Donald Welch and wife, Pat of Alliance; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. Bob Allen of the First Baptist Church in Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in the Moorefield Cemetery at Moorefield.

Visitation is Saturday and Sunday, 1-7 p.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.

A memorial has been established in her name.
