Milton August Wegener, 77, of McCook died Thursday (May 8, 2003) at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.
He was born Sept. 3, 1925, to August F. and Mildred Elize (Rathe) Wegener at Norton, Kan. He attended Perry School west of McCook and lived most of his life in the McCook area. He enjoyed making things out of wood and many craft items as well. He enjoyed working in his garden and teasing his grandchildren.
He married Verda M. Richter on Feb. 24, 1952, in McCook.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane and Kenneth; and two sisters Lucille Bloch and Joanne Daugherty.
Survivors include his wife, Verda of McCook; one daughter, Marla and husband, Michael Sanders, of McCook; three brothers, Harold Wegener and wife, Joyce of Fresno, Calif., Eldon Wegener and wife, Gayle of Denver, Colo., and Gene Wegener and wife, Charlene of Omaha; four sisters, Irma and husband, Ellsworth Friehe of Franklin, Nina Wagner of Culbertson, Oana and husband, Kenneth Bamesberger of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna and husband, Robert Greene of Denver, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Maggie Sanders of McCook.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Stecker-Baseler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name.
