Clifford H. Smith, 86, died Tuesday (May 13, 2003) at Willow Ridge Assisted Living Center in McCook.
He was born June 9, 1916, at Rockville, to Hans and Marie (Hetzel) Smith. He grew up in Rockville and graduated from Rockville High School.
He entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
He married Gean (Hegenberger) McDonald at McCook and spent his life in McCook where he was a salesman for the Volentine Ford Dealership and later Anderson Motors. He also owned and operated the Cap and Cork Liquor Store.
He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and the McCook Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one step-daughter, Joyce Dosier.
Survivors include his wife, Gean of McCook; one step-daughter, Judie and husband, Jim Kelly of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook with the Rev. Larry Jaynes officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Alban's Columbarium.
Memorials may be given in his name.
