ATWOOD -- William M. Kogl, 99, died Wednesday (May 14, 2003) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

He was born Sept. 26, 1903, in Cherry Creek, Colo., to Mathias and Magdalene (Hautzinger) Kogl. The family relocated to a farm near Herndon when he was a small child. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School until he was in the third grade, when his father needed him to help with the farming, since he was the oldest son.

On Oct. 24, 1928, he married Helen C. Barenberg. They were engaged in farming for many year. They moved to Atwood in 1961. He has resided at the Good Samaritan Center at Atwood for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen on Aug. 27, 1984; daughter, Agneta Kogl; son, Ronald Kogl; one daughter-in-law, Bernita "Betty" Kogl; one son-in-law, Harry W. Craig; sisters, Anna, Helen and Elizabeth; brothers, Charley, Matt, Joe, Clem and Harry; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Wilbert Kogl of Elizabeth, Colo., and Edmond of Commerce City, Colo.; two daughters, Laura Craig of Almena, Kan., and Ellen Dewey of McDonald; one sister, Theresa Leitner of Atwood; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Atwood.

Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.

Visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Mount Calvary Cemetery of Atwood or the St. Mary's Cemetery of Herndon and left at the funeral home.
