Morally incorrect

Dear Editor,

Let me start off, by saying that I do not like the show "Politically Incorrect," nor its host Bill Maher. With that being said, let it also be known, anyone who made the remarks made by Maher and his guest, Dinesh D'Souza on Sept. 17th's episode would receive the same pointed response from me. In case you don't know what I am talking about, on the above mentioned episode, D'Souza and Maher got into a discussion about the recent terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. In this dialogue, they described the terrorists not as the murderous thugs they are, but as "warriors."

As if that weren't bad enough, Maher went on to say, "We have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly." Of course ABC is taking the "First Amendment" stance. They go on to belittle the outrage, by saying they receive triple the amount of calls they have received, when they pre-empt a soap opera.

I remember very well, another person making an odious statement on the air. Likewise, I recall the devastating consequences it had on his career. Do you remember? Think back to January 1988, when on Martin Luther King's birthday, one Jimmy (The Greek) Snyder commented on plantation breeding practices, and the impact that had on black athletes, and their sports performance.

Is it too much to expect the same consequences for Mr. (and I use that term very loosely) Maher? I think not!

I am writing in hopes that you too find this as appalling as I do. If so, please take the time to write, e-mail, and call ABC (and your local affiliate), in addition to Disney, who is the parent company to ABC.

Thanks for your time and attention, and I shall look forward to hearing what your thoughts are on this subject.

Thanks!
