A good lesson

I'm sorry about how some of the kids reacted to the mock disaster at the MHS. However, with what happened recently west of McCook, maybe this is exactly what they needed with summer coming on and them complaining there's nothing to do. Kids now days just laugh at ads whether it be for smoking, drinking or even drugs.

Maybe shock therapy is what they need. Giving the names of the individuals and a news broadcast may have been a little extreme, however, I believe something needs to be done with these kids.

Some of the parents are oblivious to the fact that their kids don't drink and that nothing would ever happen to their kid. Guess what? It can happen. I have children too and I have taught them that if and when they would be out drinking (I'm not kidding myself to think they may not try it), they can call me anytime for a ride...no questions asked.

Then I would know they are safe. Kids, wake up and it's about time someone gave you a reality check. Take responsibility for yourselves and take the keys from your friends when you see they have been drinking. Get them home safe and maybe we won't have to worry so much. If you've been drinking, don't have an ego about driving, let someone else. Then you can be there for your next ... if you decide to do so.
