Jigsaw puzzle

Dear Editor,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years filled with family, friends, Christmas presents and programs, lots of good food and a truly thankful heart for the birth of a Savior. The Christmas carols are fraught with such tremendous meaning.

As we enter the new year, we find the world in tremendous turmoil. The war on terrorism continues, war with Iraq looms like a high mountain and now the confrontation with North Korea as well as the fear of terrorism in the major cities of our country.

Will there be a great loss of life, will our economy be destroyed? Our country has a great dependence on foreign oil. We receive 15 percent of our imported oil from Venezuela. Prices at the pump are expected to rise 10 to 15 cents a gallon because of the turmoil there. How much more will they rise when we go to war with Iraq?

For Christmas, I received a 1,000 piece puzzle with scenes reminiscent of my boyhood days on the farm, a two row mounted corn picker, a tractor with a large trailer load of ear corn emptying into the hopper of an elevator carrying the ears of corn up into the granary, another tractor powering the elevator etc.. My wife and I are having a good time putting it together but it takes a lot of patience and tenacity.

Bible prophecy is like a giant puzzle. Sunday morning, Jan. 5, I will be speaking at Evergreen Union Church at 9:30 a.m. and Bethel Baptist Church in Hayes Center at 11 a.m.

My subject will be, "Apocalypse -- How near are we?" How soon will God take vengence and pour out His wrath on the wicked? What will the end result be? Hope to see you there.

Your Friend,

Paul Schneider
