Wedding has medieval theme

BEAVER CITY -- Marla Noel Earlley and Daniel Lawrence Brown were united in marriage June 15, 2002 at the Presbyterian Church in Beaver City in a medieval theme ceremony with the Rev. Darin Bentzinger officiating.

Parents of the couple are Elden and Mariann Earlley of Wilsonville and David and Nancy Brown of Beaver City.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are Darrel and Eula Brown and Jim and Jan Frey, all of Beaver City.

The bride wore a two-toned, ivory and rum satin dress with a fitted bodice and a square neckline accented with rum-colored trim. The sleeves were Medieval floor-length and made of ivory chiffon. The dress had a full skirt and a back bustle with covered buttons, revealing an ivory, royal-length train accented in embroidered rum-colored lace with gold thread and satin. The headpiece consisted of a gold leaf lace and antique pearl tiara, with a shimmering ivory, three-quarter length veil. The bride wore an amber stone necklace borrowed from the bridegroom's grandmother. She carried a bouquet of green wheat, jewel-tone fruit and gold ribbon. The bridegroom wore brown, ultra-suede Renaissance-style doublets with stand-up collars and padded shoulder rolls, a cream-colored linen, peasant-style shirt and black, ultra-suede trousers. He also wore a long burgundy cape, lined with rum-colored satin and a gold Celtic cross.

Amber Sarnecki of Salina, Kan., sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alison Lieske of Kearney, April Earlley of Kearney and Dawn Wright of Scott City, Kan., sisters of the bride. They each wore a square-necked, princess-style, jewel-toned damask dress with long, sheer bell sleeves, accented with gold at the neck and on the laced bodice inset and hemlines. They each carried a small bouquet similar to the bride's. Carrie Dillistone of Tacoma, Wash., served as the bride's personal attendant.

Andy Brown of Kearney, brother of the bridegroom, served as the best man. Bridegroomsmen were Jon Morse of Chicago, Ill., Mike Brown of Omaha, cousin of the groom, and Randall Goldfish of Kearney. They each wore attire similar to that of the bridegroom. The doublets featured jewel-toned insets with gold trim and buttons corresponding with each bridesmaid.

The bridegroom's mother designed and created all the wedding attire.

Remington Wright of Scott City, Kan., nephew of the bride, served as the ring bearer. He wore attire similar to that of the bridegroom's.

Dan Garvel of Omaha, Dusty Hill of Kearney and Nate Hilker of Arapahoe served as ushers. Mike Powell, cousin of the groom, served as the beadle, carrying the family Bible for the ceremony. A cross was carried by Joe Lambert, cousin of the groom.

Brenda Lambert of Albion, aunt of the bridegroom, coordinated the music for the ceremony and accompanied the musicians. Julie Brown of Kearney served as a vocal soloist. Erin Powell of Beaver City, cousin of the bridegroom, played the flute. Anya Vasquez of Missoula, Mont., provided the violin music. Adam Lambert of Albion, cousin of the bridegroom, played the trumpet.

Elizabeth and Chris Brown of Omaha, cousins of the bridegroom, distributed damask pouches filled with rose petals to guests. The couple's fathers distributed seed wheat to guests.

A reception was held at the bridegroom's parents home. Refreshments were served to the guests by Bev Huxoll of Holbrook and Rebecca Brown of Omaha, aunt of the bridegroom. Barb Powell and Mary Brown of Beaver City and Carol Crecelius of Hastings served the cake.

The couple honeymooned on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Southern Valley High School and a 1999 graduate of McCook Community College with an associates of arts degree. She is a student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney studying organizational communications and international studies. The bridegroom is a 1993 graduate of Beaver City High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a bachelor of science degree in education. He is employed with Loomis Public Schools as a 7-12 social science teacher and a coach. The couple is making their home in Kearney.
