Summer ceremony united couple

Lynette and Patrick Smith

Lynette Marie Hock and Patrick Thomas Smith, both of Omaha, were united in marriage Aug. 31, 2002, at St. Patrick's Church in McCook with the Rev. Paul J. Colling of Woodriver, uncle of the bride, officiating.

Parents of the couple are Bradford and Mary Jo Hock of Culbertson and Bill and Oni Smith of Council Bluff, Iowa. Grandparents of the couple are Mary Colling of McCook, the late Francis J. Colling, the late Leslie and Maxine Hock, the late John and Elizabeth Smith and the late Jill and Marie Hescheid.

The bride wore a gown of ivory and rum pink matte satin. The halter design featured intricate embroidery and beading. The full, floor-length skirt featured a cathedral length train. A circlet of roses with pearls held her veil which was edged with satin and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses, ivory stephanotis and gardenias. She also carried a rosary blessed by Pope John Paul II. The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with an ivory checkered vest and bow tie. He also wore a rum pink rose boutonniere.

Theresa Hock of Lincoln, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Marianne Hock of Lincoln and Sharlene and Alesia Hock of Culbertson, all sisters of the bride, served as bridesmaids. They each wore a floor-length gown of matte satin with embroidered bodices and carried a bouquet of ivory roses and purple status. The bride's personal attendant was Cheryl Kuckelman of Topeka, Kan.

Tim Smith of Council Bluffs, Iowa, brother of the bridegroom, served as the best man. Ron Smith of Kansas City, Kan., brother of the bridegroom, Mike Hedrick of Watertown, S.D., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Shawn Hock of Lincoln, brother of the bride, served as the bridegroomsmen. They each wore black tuxedos, aubergine colored vests and bow ties. The bridegroomsmen also served as ushers for the ceremony.

Alaina and Keagan Hedrick of Watertown, twin niece and nephew of the bridegroom served as the flower girl and ring bearer. The flower girl wore an aubergine colored matte sating floor-length gown with an ivory lace chapel-length train. The ring bearer wore a black tuxedo that matched the one worn by the bridegroom. The flower girl's gown, flower basket and ring bearer's pillow were designed and made by the bride's mother.

The altar servers were Aaron and Kevin Hock of Culbertson, cousins of the bride. Acolyte for the Mass was David Colling of McCook, uncle of the bride and the lector was Ronald Colling of Osceola, uncle of the bride. Offertory attendants were Lil Gardner of Des Moines, Iowa, Laurie Zeilinger of Council Bluffs, Norene Hedrick of Watertown, and Nancy Kabance of Kansas City, Kan., all sisters of the bridegroom.

Marie Coffey of McCook was the organist and Diana Colling of Osceola, cousin of the bride, was the soloist. Theresa and Sharlene Hock, sisters of the bride, and Angela Rehtus of Lincoln, aunt of the bride, also served as vocalists.

The guestbook attendants were Monica McClain of Council Bluffs and Lindsay Smith of Council Bluffs, nieces of the bridegroom.

The reception was at D's Place in McCook. Host couples were Greg and Barbara Graham of Fort Collins, Colo., godparents of the bride, Bernie and Carol Hock of Culbertson, uncle and aunt of the bride, Ray and Marge Madsen of Fort Collins, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom and Les and Rita Schmitz of Portsmouth, Iowa, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom.

The wedding cake was made by Angela Rehtus of Lincoln, aunt of the bride and Maj. Annetta Sullivan, Ellsworth Air Force Base in S.D., aunt of the bride. The cake servers were Lori Sutton of McCook, Annetta Sullivan and Angela Rehtus, all aunts of the bride. Reception assistants were Janice Corcoran of Fort Collins, Ronda Colling of Omaha, aunts of the bride and Jane Pennock of McCook.

The flower arrangements and reception decorations were made by Barbara Graham, Carol Hock, aunt of the bride and the bride's mother.

The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico.

The bride is a graduate of Culbertson High School, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and she has a masters of science degree from the University of Minnesota in biostatistics. She is employed as a statistical coordinator at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The bridegroom is a graduate of Bellevue University and is employed as an account clerk with Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company.

The couple is making their home in Omaha.
