September vows unite Kearney couple

Amy Ahlers and Jason Downing, both of Kearney, were united in marriage Sept. 21, 2002, at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating.

Parents of the couple are Don and Pam Ahlers of McCook and Greg and Geraldine Downing of Stratton.

Grandparents of the couple are Don and Mary Schwerdt of McDonald, Kan., and Shirley Ahlers of Jackson, Calif.

Matron of honor was Jenny Petz of Portland, Ore. The bridesmaids were Jody Lieske and Mandy Thomsen, both of Lincoln, Jodi Korf of Tucson, Ariz., and Molly Mattern of Rochester, Minn. The junior bridesmaid was Ashlin Korf of Marion, Iowa.

The best man was Ryan Downing of Kearney. The bridegroomsmen were Duster Ellis of Kearney, Levi Whipps of Stockville, Jeff Ahlers of Hastings and Eric Petz of Portland. The junior bridegroomsman was Hayden Sabatka of Littleton, Colo.

The flower girl was Meagan Ahlers of Jackson and the ring bearer was Matthew Ahlers, also of Jackson.

The ushers were Matt Mattern of Rochester, Scott Mattern of Minneapolis, Minn., Ryan Hanson and Brad Hanson of Yankton, S.D., and Quinten Sabatka of Manhattan, Kan.

Candlelighters were Kendall and Cameron Foster of McCook. Host couples for the reception were John and Sherri Mattern of Rochester and Larry and Cheryl Wilkens of Colorado Springs, Colo.

The bride is employed by Good Samaritan Hospital as a registered nurse in the family birth center. The bridegroom is employed by The Buckle as an assistant manager.
