ST. EDWARD -- Jennifer Smith and Jeremy Walgren were united in marriage Nov. 16, 2002, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward with the Rev. James Novotny officiating.
Parents of the couple are Tom and Carol Smith of St. Edward and Rex and Kathy Walgren of Wauneta and the late Diane Walgren. Special quests were grandparents of the bride, Emil and Alice Stehlik of Crete and Fern Smith of St. Edward and grandparents of the bridegroom, Bob and Sharon Walgren of Wauneta and Ila Sjuts of Columbus.
The bride wore a satin gown that featured a double row of pearls and crystals outlining the square neckline, over the sleeveless shoulder straps and encircled the waistline. Pearls and sequins were all over the bodice and the lower hemline of the gored skirt. A mock apron wrapped from front to back and flared open from the waist to reveal an under panel that ended in a cathedral-length train. Fabric buttons tumbled from the back neckline down the train. Her satin edged veil was held in place by a rhinestone and pearl tiara. She carried a cascading bouquet of orchids and stargazer lilies.
The maid of honor was Connie Reardon of St. Edward and the matron of honor was Christine Clevenger of Imperial. Bridesmaids were Natalie Ham of Minnesota, Jaime Walgren of Wauneta, sister of the bridegroom, and Gabriel Garrison of Kansas. They each wore an ice blue sleeveless satin gown with several seams leading to a tapered bottom. They each carried a bouquet of white roses, orchids and stargazer lilies. The bride's personal attendants were Cindy Smith of O'Neill, sister-in-law of the bride, and Raenelle Walgren of Columbus, cousin of the bridegroom.
The best man was Theron Kitt of Kearney. Bridegroomsmen were Andy Roberts of Minnesota, Chad Theisen of Lincoln, Bryan Smith of O'Neill, brother of the bride, and Wade Spicer of Lincoln.
The flower girl was Taylin McNair of Imperial and the ring bearer was Jace Clevenger of Imperial.
Ushers for the ceremony were Bill Benson of St. Edward, Shelby Anderson of Wauneta, Carson Watt of Wauneta, Chris Watt of Hemingford, both brothers of the bridegroom, and Jason Bargen of Kansas.
Candellighters were Danielle Smith and Jacob Maris.
Organist for the ceremony was Dee Dee Reardon and soloists were Shanna Reardon and Katie Watt, sister of the groom. Mary Roberts served as lector and Nicki Mahoney served as altar attendant.
Guest book attendants were Katie Watt of Omaha, sister of the bridegroom and Amy Bogard of Lincoln. Clay and Amy Thompson of Omaha, cousins of the bride, handed out programs.
The reception was at the Loup River Inn in Fullerton. The host couples were Dean and Pam Miller of St. Edward, Scott Walgren of Wauneta, uncle of the bridegroom, and Cleve and Brenda Anderson of Wauneta. Debra Johnson of Wilcox and Vicki Brown of Tilden, both cousins of the bride, attended the gift table.
Serving cake and punch were Carolyn Thompson of Albion, aunt of the bride, Jan Smith of St. Edward, aunt and godmother of the bride, Sandi Cole of Missouri, aunt of the bridegroom, Linda Sjuts of York, aunt of the bridegroom, and Lynn Sjuts of Columbus, aunt of the bridegroom.
The couple honeymooned in Mexico.
The bride is a 1996 graduate of St. Edward High School and a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is employed with Midlands Cardiology Group in Kearney. The bridegroom is a 1997 graduate of Wauneta-Palisade High School and from Doane College with a degree in business. He is employed with Cabella's in Kearney as a lead manager.
The couple is making their home in Kearney.
