Dazzling power

Late model driver Jason Humphrey of Giltner tore up the quarter-mile track at McCook Speedway in 2001 -- imagine the power and speed and guts on the speedway's new three-eighths-mile track. McCook Speedway plays host to the Humphrey Challenge late models in a special race night Friday, at 8 p.m.; tickets at the gate will be $10 for adults; senior citizens and children's ticket prices remain the same. "The late models put on a terrific show on the small track last year," said track promoter Donny Sailors. "They'll dominate on the bigger track this year." Sailors said he has 21 late model preregistered. Also racing Friday night will be IMCA modifieds, stock cars and hobby stocks.
