A North Platte man was sentenced on two separate cases in district court Wednesday.

Randy Roberts, 19, was sentenced to 24 months of intensive supervised probation and 120 days at the Work Ethic Camp to be served concurrent with another sentence of 24 months of intensive supervised probation and 120 days at the Work Ethic Camp.

Roberts was sentenced for one count of issuing a bad check, a Class III felony in one case and in another case, sentenced for trespassing, a Class II misdemeanor, attempted criminal mischief, a Class I misdemeanor and criminal mischief, a Class III felony.

Roberts, was originally charged with 16 counts of issuing a bad check (11 Class II misdemeanors, one Class IV felony and four Class I misdemeanors). Roberts pleaded guilty on the charges, but through a plea agreement the charges were combined into one count of issuing a bad check. Roberts had written checks totaling around $1,500 from Sept. 5, 2001 to Oct. 14, 2001.

In his second case, Roberts was originally charged with count one, burglary, a Class III felony; count two, criminal mischief, a Class III felony; count three, use of firearm to commit felony, a Class II felony; count four, criminal mischief, a Class IV felony; and count five, use of firearm to commit felony, a Class II felony, which he pleaded not guilty to. Through a plea agreement, count three and five were dismissed.

Roberts was involved in an early November incident where he and three friends appeared on some land owned by Marian Mitchell in Indianola. The four entered the Mitchell home, took a few small items and a gun. Roberts and the others, proceeded outside, according to authorities, and shot at a pick-up truck, trees and other items on the Mitchell land. The four also shot and killed a cow belonging to Jeff Brooks.
