Defendants appear in court

A McCook man was arraigned in district court Tuesday on charges of criminal mischief and trespassing.

James T. Richardson, 19, is awaiting sentencing for second-degree criminal trespassing, a Class III misdemeanor and attempted criminal mischief, a Class I misdemeanor.

He pleaded no contest to the original charges of criminal trespassing and criminal mischief, a Class IV felony, but charges were amended during a plea agreement.

Richardson was involved in a March 28, 2002, incident where he and two other people climbed on top of Butler's Beef Acres of McCook. The three allegedly caused $300 in damage to medal vents on the roof.

Richardson's sentencing is set for July 22.

In other action:

- Angela Nicole Hegert, 22, of McCook, was sentenced to a total of 36 months probation and $700 in fines for two counts of criminal attempt: possession of a controlled substance, a Class I misdemeanor and criminal attempt: possession of a controlled substance without affixing a tax stamp, a Class I misdemeanor.

Hegert's original charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class III felony; controlled substance tax violation, a Class IV felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony; possession of marijuana, infraction; possession of drug paraphernalia, infraction and controlled substance, tax violation, a Class IV felony, were amended to the attempted possession charges.

Hegert was involved in a Jan. 6, 2001 incident when her McCook hotel room was searched for drug items. Methamphetamines, cocaine and marijuana were found.

- Kimberly S. Randles, 30, of McCook, was arraigned on four different charges, including third degree assault, a Class I misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, infraction; possession of marijuana, infraction; and attempted possession of a controlled substance (methampheta-mine), a Class IV felony.

Randles pleaded no contest to her original charges, but through a plea agreement a possession of controlled substance charge, a Class IV felony, was amended to attempted possession.

She was involved in a Nov. 21, 2001, incident where she assaulted Janie Randles. Police officials found the drug paraphernalia on Randles when she was arrested. Randles sentencing is set for July 22.

- Jeffry J. Wilson, 24, of McCook, was arraigned for third degree assault, a Class I misdemeanor and two counts of criminal mischief, a Class II misdemeanor.

Wilson did not plea on the original charges of terroristic threats, a Class IV felony which was amended to third degree assault.

Wilson was involved in an April 21, 2002, incident where he went to a house owned by Connie Horn and threatened to kill Robin Johnson of McCook, who was residing in the home. Wilson, according to police records, then did damage to Johnson's vehicle and tore a box and wires from the outside of the house that connected to the inside phone line. Total damage was estimated at $300.

Wilson is scheduled for sentencing on July 22.

- Rebecca Minary, 20, of Stratton, was sentenced to 18 months probation and a $500 fine, for criminal mischief, a Class II misdemeanor and theft by unlawful taking, a Class I misdemeanor. These charges were amended from criminal mischief, a Class IV felony and theft by unlawful taking, a class IV felony, to which she pleaded not guilty.

Minary was involved in a July 20, 2001 incident, where she did $300 worth of damage to a vehicle owned by Hollie Wayman. Minary then proceeded to take CDs, clothing, bags, a calculator, jewelry, a hair dryer, a curling iron and personal hygiene items from Wayman. The items totaled to around $1,500.
