Towns restict watering, fireworks

Wednesday, June 26, 2002

Cambridge city officials are asking residents not to do any outside watering between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., to allow water wells to recover from heavy usage.

Arapahoe city council members are requesting that residents water only from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., to keep nitrate levels low in wells during times of heavy usage. Arapahoe council members, however, decided to allow the school to water the football field during restricted hours because of a seeding project.

In Benkelman, fireworks and open burning have been banned due to dry conditions.
