North Platte man sentenced

Monday, July 8, 2002

A North Platte man was sentenced in Red Willow County District Court this week for attempted possession of methamphetamines.

Loren A. Biltoff was sentenced Monday to 12 months probation for attempt to possess a controlled substance, a Class I misdemeanor.

Biltoff was involved in a Dec. 3, 2001 incident where he wandered onto land owned by Robert Kerr. Kerr reported that Biltoff asked Kerr to watch his dog.

Biltoff continued that he would be back to pick up the dog if "nothing bad happened to him." Biltoff left for a short time and then returned to Kerr's residence.

Kerr called the sheriff's office to report the mysterious visitor and an officer from the Red Willow County Sheriff's office arrived. Biltoff told the officer that he (Biltoff) was led to Kerr's residence and that someone was "trying to kill him." Biltoff continued telling the officer that there was a warrant for his arrest in Lancaster County.

The officer proceeded to arrest him, but Biltoff told him that he couldn't arrest him because he was a "dead man," and that Biltoff didn't trust the officer because Biltoff thought that the officer was a part of the organization out to kill him.

The officer called for backup officers to help. When Biltoff heard the sirens he emptied out his pockets and asked the officer if they both could leave. From the contents in Biltoff's pocket, a vial of methamphetamine was discovered.
