Norris birthday celebration set for Thursday evenig

The 141st anniversary of the birth of George Norris, former Nebraska Senator, will be celebrated Thursday evening at Norris Park. The event is sponsored by the George Norris Foundation and the Nebraska State Historical Society.

Birthday cake and ice cream will be served in the park at 5:30 p.m. followed by a short program in the basement at the McCook City Library, adjacent to the park. Jon and Annette Wacker will be featured presenters along with a premier viewing of an award-winning video about Sen. Norris and electricity. The video, by Tabetha Lux of Crawford, received the second place award in the national History Day competition in Washington D.C.

Participants are invited to bring a picnic supper to the park.

There is no admission charge.
