McCook woman, man appear in Hayes County Court on drug charges
HAYES CENTER -- A McCook physician assistant charged with possession of drug paraphernalia pleaded guilty and paid a $100 fine in Hayes County court Tuesday morning.
Mary Haller of McCook was charged June 4 following a routine traffic stop by Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Jamie Balthazor in Hayes County. Haller was a passenger in the car driven by Jeff Whitaker of McCook, who was stopped for no license plates and no taillights on a trailer.
Whitaker was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In court Tuesday, Whitaker's preliminary hearing was continued until Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., to allow the state crime lab time to complete tests on substances found in Whitaker's car.
