Prairie Statesmen seeking singers for patriotic program

Thursday, August 22, 2002

If you're a man and you love to sing, the Prairie Statesmen Chorus invites you to join them in presenting a program of patriotic music during Heritage Days in McCook.

"We want as many male voices as possible for the group sing-along on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Fox Theater in McCook," said Jack Reichenbach.

"It's not necessary to join the chorus on a permanent basis," he said. "It's just that we want to have as many singers as we can for the Heritage Days Show. Any male singer from Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas is welcome to take part."

Those interested are asked to call Don Blank, Bill Graves, Charles Coleman, Jack Reichenbach, or any other member of the barbershop group.

Rehearsals will begin this coming Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the former Presbyterian Church at West 12th and H streets in McCook.

Among the songs which will be featured at the patriotic show are "America the Beautiful," "God Bless America," "America," "Home on the Range," "This Land Is Your Land," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "This Is My Country" and "The Star-Spangled Banner."

The show will be free to the public, but tickets will be required. The tickets will be available at several downtown locations, including Hershberger Music, McCook National Bank and Farrell Drug.
