TRENTON -- Hitchcock County Judge Bert Leffler set bond at $20,000 for a rural Trenton man charged Monday with possession of methamphetamine and manufacture of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Clerk Magistrate Hilda Hampton presided over the arraignment of Rodney E. Geihsler, 25. Hampton also conducted an extradition hearing for a Stratton couple.

Geihsler was arrested late Saturday night following a traffic stop at Trails West Texaco at Trenton. In court Monday, he requested a court-appointed attorney and told Hampton he would not post bond.

Hampton continued Geihsler's arraignment before Judge Leffler Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. Geihsler remains in jail in Trenton.

Leslie D. Stratton, 42, and Luanna L. Offineer Stratton, 45, of Stratton, waived counsel and extradition Monday, and are in Hitchcock County jail waiting for Missouri officers to return them to Missouri.

Warrants from Missouri identified the two as fugitives, violating terms of their parole and/or probation.

Hitchcock County Attorney D. Eugene Garner said Leslie Stratton had been convicted of sexual assault, possession of a controlled substance and creation of a controlled substance. Luanna Stratton had been convicted of forgery.

The couple told Hampton they wanted to return to Missouri, "come back to Stratton and make it legal." Leslie Stratton said they like the community and the people of Stratton, and want to return legally.

The couple was remanded to the sheriff's office as they wait for Missouri officials.
