Tall vehicle causes, cable outage

Wednesday, December 18, 2002

A power and cable television outage experienced at around 10:30 this morning appeared to have been caused by a high profile vehicle traveling along a road west of McCook, according to Brian Vassa of Nebraska Public Power District.

Vassa said the outage appeared to have been the result of a the vehicle catching a cable conductor on an NPPD pole. The conductor flipped up into the electrical lines which caused a short circuit, blowing fuses at the sub-station on Q street.

Electrical repairs were completed by 10:50 and NPPD is not expecting any further outages because of the accident.

A representative from Charter Communications said cable service should be restored sometime today.
