MJH Geographic Bee winners

Nic Schilling (from left) took first place in the McCook Junior High School competition of the National Geographic Bee on Wednesday. Jennifer Herron took second and Tom Powers took third. Schilling will now take a written test, and up to 100 of the top scorers in each state will be eligible to compete in the state Bee on April 4. The National Geographic Society will provide the state champion and teacher-escorts an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. for the national championship, moderated by "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek, on May 20-21. First place winner will receive a $25,000 scholarship. Tom Lentz and Lynda Baumbach are sponsors of the local competition.
