Monday, January 20, 2003

PALISADE -- Pioneer Community Federal Credit Union will soon open its door, with aspirations of opening new doors of opportunity for Hayes and Hitchcock county residents.

The mission of the Pioneer Community Federal Credit Union is to provide financial services including checking, savings and loans to its members.

Tanya Placzek, manager of the Pioneer Community Federal Credit Union, Julie Kappenman, Economic Development Specialist from National Credit Union Administration, and Raelene Barr, District Examiner for NCUA, have been working to undertake the steps to set up the business and reporting systems required by the National Credit Union Administration. NCUA is the federal agency that provides the deposit insurance for the credit union members, similar to FDIC for banks.

Manager Placzek comes to the new business with 10 years experience in the banking industry, specifically working with all facets of the business including member service and lending.

The Credit Union opening is planned for February 2003. "We are excited with this new venture and invite all future members to stop in and get acquainted when we open," Placzek said. "We look forward to serving the financial needs of our members."
