Family loses home to fire

A mobile home belonging to Anna and Jeremy Sis of rural Atwood was destroyed in a fire Friday evening.

Wallace Gummere, Stratton Fire Chief, said his department responded to a mutual aid call at about 9 p.m. Friday, from the Atwood Fire Department.

Anna and the couple's two children, ages 1 and 4, were at home, 121/2 miles south of Stratton, at the time of the fire.

Gummere said Anna reported hearing an explosion while she was bathing her two children. The three escaped the house unharmed.

Her husband was at work at the time of the explosion.

Anna Sis is the aquatics director at the Ed Thomas YMCA. YMCA director Mike Gonzales said his agency will be accepting donations to assist the family with its immediate needs.
