Puppeteer will visit North Ward

The Nebraska Arts Council Artist in Schools and Communities Program and McCook Arts Council are co-sponsoring a residency for Trish Place of Omaha, at North Ward Elementary, Feb. 24-28, for students in prekindergarten through fourth grade.

Trish Place has entertained audiences throughout the state of Nebraska with her puppet shows adapted from familiar children's stories. Place will bring her puppet building skills into the classroom to teach students how to create a puppet out of recycled household items such as cardboard tubes, egg cartons, foam cups and socks.

Students in the core group will learn to use these puppets in a group performance setting at the end of the residency week. The core group will be the fourth grade class taught by Gayl Korus.

Visitors are welcomed to these events.
