LINCOLN -- Sen. Tom Baker of Trenton was among state senators and constitutional officers honored at Nebraska Farm Bureau's Legislative Appreciation Luncheon in Lincoln on Feb. 6.
The senator and Farm Bureau members are pictured with food items donated by members in recognition of Food Check-Out Day, also Feb. 6, which celebrates the affordability of food in America: If the typical American family had spent all of its disposable income for food from Jan. 1 to Feb. 6, 2003, it would be done paying for its entire year's food supply in 37 days.
Donated food was given to the Mid-Nebraska Food Bank in Kearney which serves many rural counties.
