Cancer event seeking teams
The American Cancer Society McCook Relay For Life committee has announced that its team recruitment night will be 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Hospital meeting rooms.
Individuals interested in captaining a team for the 2003 McCook Relay For Life should attend the meeting to receive team materials and information on how to recruit a team. Sandwiches will be served.
This year's Relay For Life begins Friday evening, August 8 and runs through Saturday morning, August 9 in Norris Park. The Relay is a fun-filled, overnight event that celebrates survivors, remembers loved ones, and raises money for the fight against cancer.
Team members gather with tents and sleeping bags to participate in the largest fund-raising walk in the nation. Relay For Life brings together friends, family, businesses, hospitals, schools, churches … people from all walks of life.
Teams may seek sponsorships, as well as sell luminarias prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting a cure for cancer.
Persons interested in forming a Relay For Life team may call Mary Ann Madden or Ellen Meissner, Relay For Life team recruitment chairs, at Community Hospital at (308) 345-8285 or Relay For Life co-chairs Barb Bortner, (308) 345-8550, and Dixie Bethell, (308) 345-2650.
