Florence Howard, 86, died Sunday (May 25, 2003) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.
She was born May 23, 1917, in Red Willow County, to Raymond Daniel and Cora (Maisel) Quigley. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1935.
On Dec. 21, 1938, she married Alvin M. Howard. They made their home on a farm near Indianola. She was a homemaker and helped raise their three children.
She was a member of the Indianola Church of Christ and a volunteer at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin in 1989; a half-brother, Marlin Quigley; and two sisters, Irene Ray and Eleanor Quigley.
Survivors include her son, Jim Howard and wife, Ellen, of McCook; two daughters, Dixie and husband, Rod Wachholtz of Derby, Kan., and Karen (Zicafoose) and husband, Robert Denison, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; one brother, Bill Quigley and wife, Laurel, of Enid, Okla.; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and twin great-great-granddaughters to be born in June.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with the Rev. Clark Bates officiating.
Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery of Indianola.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name.
