GRAND ISLAND -- Sandra "Sandi" J. Foight, 55, of Grand Island, died Saturday (May 31, 2003) at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Karohl officiating. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Sandi was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Benkelman, the daughter of Ellsworth "Edgie" and Doris (Maxwell) Wilson. Sandi grew up and received her education in Benkelman, graduated from Benkelman High School in 1965. She lived in McCook and worked at Modern Cleaners.
On March 18, 1967, she married Glen Foight at Benkelman. They lived in Kearney and she was employed with Liberty Cleaners. They moved to McCook and she was a homemaker until moving to North Platte where she worked for Roberts Dairy as a receptionist. The family moved to Grand Island in 1978, and she was a supervisor of extended warranty at Sears. She was employed with Richman Gordmans and for the past 14 years, she was Senior Administrative Assistant at Principal Financial Group.
She was active in the Parent-Teachers Association and was a room mother for all of her children when they were in grade school. She enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, traveling and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Benkelman and attended Faith United Methodist Church.
Her father, Ellsworth Wilson, preceded her in death.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Glendon "Glen" Foight of Grand Island; two sons, Derek Foight and wife, Lisa of Campbell and Devin Foight and his special friend, Lee Ann of Grand Island; two daughters, RaLynn and husband, Thomas Jacobsen of Kearney and Karisa and husband, Christopher Hamann of Omaha; mother and step-father, Doris and Robert Williams of McCook; one brother, Jack Wilson and wife, Margie of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Linda Wilson of Austin, Texas; and six grandchildren, Tyler Jacobsen, Nathan Jacobsen, Taylor Foight, Jordan Foight, Jakson Foight and Jadyn Hamann.
