ATWOOD -- Reno Ray Fikan, 83, died Tuesday (June 17, 2003) at the Lantern Park Nursing Home in Colby, Kan.
He was born May 9, 1920, to Ralph Otto "Rusty" and Clara Ella (Davis) Fikan at their home southeast of Atwood. He attended country school at Pleasant View School District No. 47 and then graduated from Atwood Community High School in 1938.
On May 12, 1940, he married Gladys Eileen Kyte. They lived with his parents until 1943, when they purchased and moved to the farm that Eileen was born and raised on southeast of McDonald.
He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Rebekah Lodge No. 331, Atwood Masonic Lodge No. 164 and Radiant Chapter No. 229, Order of Eastern Star. He also helped and participated with the Tri-State Antique Engine and Threshers Association at Bird City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, H. LaVoe Fikan.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen of Atwood; sons, Larry Fikan of Atwood and Lyle Fikan and wife, Janet of El Reno, Okla.; daughter, Lois and husband, Ken Smith of Atwood; a brother, Kermit Fikan and wife, Virginia of Englewood, Colo.; sister-in-law, Elaine Fikan of Atwood; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Williams Funeral Chapel in Atwood. Interment will be at Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Rawlins County Historical Society or the Tri-State Antique and Threshers Association.
