Robert Bosley, 78, died Friday (June 20, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born March 14, 1925, in Palisade, to Charles M. and Verna (Gruver) Bosley. He grew up at Palisade and graduated from Palisade High School in 1942. He attended the University of Nebraska before entering the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska where he received his law degree. He began practicing law with his father at Palisade in 1953, he became Hayes County Attorney.
On Nov. 28, 1946, he married Stannis Clark. He became Hitchcock County Attorney in 1969.
In 1971, he married Jean Pursley and opened a law practice at Windsor, Colo. They came to McCook in 1991.
He was a member of the Nebraska Bar Association for 50 years and the Colorado Bar Association for 21 years. He was a member of the Palisade Masonic Lodge No. 216, Tehama Shrine at Hastings, Eureka Chapter Order of Eastern Star, American Legion at Hayes Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Palisade and the Combat Veterans of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean on May 24, 1997; and one daughter, Rene Dye.
Survivors include five daughters, Claudia and husband, Dexter Potter of Hill City, Kan., Trish Sanchell of Lubbock, Texas, Beth and husband, Steve Messersmith of Curtis, Paula and husband, Bill Davis of McCook and Jerri and husband, Dick Collicott of Culbertson; a brother, Dr. Warren Bosley and wife, Aileen of Grand Island; a sister, Nadine McCreary of Hot Springs, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook.
