Mae Ellen Schmidt, 79, died Saturday (June 21, 2003) at her home in McCook.
She was born Jan. 29, 1924, at Cozad, to Albert and Florence Pearl (Hutchinson) Morris. She grew up at Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School in 1924.
In 1942, she married Monroe Schmidt and they farmed in the Gothenburg area before moving north of Bartley in 1952. In 1983, she moved to McCook where she has spent the remainder of her life. She worked as a home care provider.
She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church of McCook, the Community Hospital Auxiliary and a bloodmobile volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe; one son, Myron Schmidt; four brothers, Merl Morris, Wilbur Morris, Clarence Morris and Elmer Morris; two sisters, Frances Parson and Opal Morris.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie and husband, Mike Foley of McCook; one son, Carl Schmidt and wife, Vicki of Lincoln; two sisters, Jeri Norvell of San Diego, Calif., and Mabel Edmiston of Lincoln; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Randy Wahl officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may sign the memorial book at the service.
