Margaret Irma 'Marie' Davis

BEAVER CITY --  Margaret Irma "Marie" Davis, 85, died Thursday (July 31, 2003) at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

She was born Jan. 3, 1918, to William David and Rachel (Marble) Perkins near Precept.

She attended rural school in District 9 in Furnas County until 1932 and graduated from Beaver City High School in 1936. She attended Hastings College and graduated from Kearney State Teachers College where she earned her elementary teaching degree and a number of graduate hours. She taught school in rural Furnas County for 12 years. She also taught in Stamford Public School for three years and retired after 25 years of teaching in Arapahoe Public Schools.

On May 5, 1945, she married Roland E. Davis in Norton. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1973.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Beaver City, a long-time member of Rebekah Lodge of Beaver City, Beaver City Woman's Club, MGR Extension Club, Presbyterian Women, Good Time Club and Beaver City Chamber of Commerce.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Florence Perkins.

Survivors include her son, David Elmer and wife, Marilyn Davis of Kearney; two daughters, Ardythe and husband, Lean Brandt of Kearney and Aris and husband, Dennis Andrews of Juniata; one sister, Helen and husband, Cecil Taylor of Kearney; two brothers-in-law, Wendell and wife, Barb Davis of Columbus and Duward and wife, Floris Davis of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City with Keith Theobald officiating. Interment is at Maple Creek Cemetery in rural Beaver City.

Visitation is Saturday, 1-8 p.m., Sunday, 1-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and Monday, prior to services at the church.

Memorials can be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City.

Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City is in charge of the arrangements.
