CURTIS -- Ada M. Watkins, 96, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 2003) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home.

She was born June 22, 1907, to James Edward and Lillian Mae (West) Ryan in Indianola.

In December 1927, she married Clarence "Mike" Wesley Watkins in Oberlin.

The couple made their home on a farm west of Stockville. They had one daughter, Joan.

She was a past member of the Curtis Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Betty Goeschel.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Castor of Curtis: one sister, Florence Crampton of Colby, Kan.; one sister-in-law, Neva Watkins of Kennewick, Wash.; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at the Congregational Church in Stockville with the Rev. Richard Sykes officiating. Interment will be at Arbor Cemetery in Stockville.

The casket will remain closed during the service and at visition. The registration book will be available today, 1 - 5 p.m. at Blaze Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.

Memorials may be given to the Arbor Cemetery, Curtis Senior Center -- Meals on Wheels or the donor's choice.
