SALINA, Kan. -- Mary Ann B. Vahling, 87, died Tuesday (Aug. 14, 2003) at Kenwood View Nursing Home in Salina, Kan.
She was born Aug. 2, 1916, to John G. and Frances A. (Swingler) Vahling in Angelus, Kan. She was raised on a farm near New Almelo, Kan. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in New Almelo. She was a housekeeper for the Rev. Edward Sanders and Monsignor Michael Moran for 50 years in New Almelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, John and Louis Vahling.
Survivors include one brother, Joseph H. Vahling of Ellis, Kan.; and four sisters, Agnes and husband, Wilfred Marx of Ellis, Anna P. Vahling of Salina, Josephine Werth of Hays, Kan., and Elizabeth and husband, Francis Wessel of Oakley, Kan.
Services are Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo with the Revs. Frank Cody, Vincent Thu Laing and deacon, Stan Chapin, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery at New Almelo.
Visitation is Friday, 5 p.m., at the parish center in New Almelo. A vigil service is also Friday, 8 p.m., at the parish center.
Memorials may be given in her name to St. Joseph Church or St. Mary's Church.
