Marjorie R. Knedlik, 85, died Friday (Aug. 22, 2003) at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born July 31, 1918, to August and Margaret (Janmes) Schattenburg in Riley, Kan. She grew up in Riley where she graduated from high school in 1934. She graduated from Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kan. She taught in Woodruff, Kan. During World War II, she worked for Trans World Airlines. She returned to teaching in Greenleaf, Kan.
On Dec. 26, 1946, she married Norton K. Knedlik in Manhattan. The couple came to McCook in 1962, where she taught in Bartley, Indianola and district 8 school, south of McCook. For 10 years she was the organist at the First Congregational Church.
She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook and the AAUW.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Schattenburg.
Survivors include her husband, Norton Knedlik of McCook; one son, Robert Knedlik and wife, Sarah of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Marcia Knedlik of Bad Reichenhall, Germany and Elizabeth Hammond and husband, Gerald of Piti, Guam; and two grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, 2 p.m., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
