Roberta Marie (McBride) Randel went to be with the Lord on Aug. 15, 2003, in Spokane, Wash., her home for the past 20 years. She was born Nov. 4, 1929, to Dale and Mary McBride in Indianola.
She is survived by Ernest, her beloved husband of 55 years; son, Steven and Susan Randel of Wilbur, Wash.; daughters, Suzette and Dennis Milner and Sheila Randel of Spokane, Sharon and John Stephen Beauclair of Copperas Cove, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn and Avery Winters of Indianola, Ruth Schuster of Lakewood, Colo., Robert and Velma McBride of McCook, Charles and Mary McBride of Grand Island, William and Betty McBride of Security, Colo., James and Ida McBride of Holbrook, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Elmer Schuster. One of her greatest joys in life was her family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, traveling and her church. When Roberta smiled, her whole face lit up and you couldn't help but smile with her. Everyone considered her a "special kind of Mom." She had a quick wit and knew how to use it. She was not only a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a great-grandmother, but she was also a dear and cherished friend to all. Her faith in God was displayed daily in her battle with cancer and also provided strength for her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all.
Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Daniel Barnett as celebrant in Spokane. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery in Spokane.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made in Roberta's name to St.Patrick's School, 2706 E Queen Ave Spokane, WA 99207; Horizon Hospice, 12 E Rowan Ste L5, Spokane, WA 99207; or The American Cancer Society.
