If you're a music lover in any sense of the word, there's no reason why you shouldn't tap your feet to the sounds of your favorite groups this summer. For the first time since I started doing this annual round-up every summer, it has taken three columns to fit everything in that's going on. It should be a very musical summer.

JULY -- On Tuesday the 1st, .38 Special will be appearing at the Tri City Arena in Kearney. Wednesday the 2nd through Friday the 4th will find Lil' Ed and The Blues Imperials at Harvey's Wagon Wheel Casino in Central City, Colo. Also on Thursday the 3rd, Blues Traveler and Leftover Salmon will be appearing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. Trick Pony will be a the Greeley Stampede in Greeley, Colo., on Friday the 4th and Dan Fogelberg will be at the Paramount Theatre in Denver. Blues Traveler will be at Red Rocks without Leftover Salmon on the 4th as well. On Saturday the 5th, Joe Diffie, Mark Chesnutt, and Tracy Lawrence will all be performing at the Greeley Stampede in Greeley. Counting Crows, and John Mayer will be at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre on Monday, July 7th, and The Dead will be at Red Rocks the same night.

A huge concert at Fiddler's Green on Tuesday the 8th with Angelique Kidjo opening for the incomparable Santana. On the same night, Michelle Branch will be opening another huge concert for The Dixie Chicks, appearing at the Pepsi Center. My boys saw them this past weekend in Kansas City. They performed to a sellout crowd and no boos at all were heard from the crowd so, hopefully, the short-lived controversy surrounding them has ran its course.

.38 Special, a favorite band of mine, will be at the Grizzly Rose in Denver on Friday, the 11th. Jo Dee Messina will be appearing at the Platte County Fair in Columbus on Saturday the 12th and the "Big Hair" concert at Fiddler's Green will feature Poison, Skid Row, and Vince Neil on the same night. Lyle Lovett will be at the Winter Park Ski Area in Winter Park, Colo., on the 12th as well. The Oak Ridge Boys will be at the Gage County Fair in Beatrice on Thursday the 17th (why can't the Red Willow County Fair ever bring in entertainment like that?). Appearing at Red Rocks on Friday, the 18th will be Jackson Browne, Keb' Mo' and Steve Earle. Lonestar will be performing at the Adams County Fair in Hastings on Saturday, the 26th. Crazy Horse, Lucinda Williams and Neil Young will close out an incredible month of music, appearing at Red Rocks on Tuesday, the 29th and Wednesday, the 30th..

Of course, in the middle of all of this is the Comstock Rock Festival at Second Wind Ranch in Comstock, Featuring Kory and The Fireflies on Thursday the 17th, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Jackyl, and Kory and The Fireflies on Friday the 18th, Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, Foreigner Lead Singer Lou Gramm, John Kay and Steppenwolf and The Producers on Saturday, the 19th and ending with Def Leppard, Grand Funk Railroad, Little River Band and Walter Trout and the Radicals on Sunday the 20th.

AUGUST - August gets started with a bang on Friday, the 1st with the "Summer Sanitarium Tour" at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, featuring the Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Metallica, and Mudvayne. On Monday the 4th, Steely Dan will be at Fiddler's Green in Englewood. David Sanborn and The Crusaders will be performing at the Univeral Lending Pavilion on Wednesday the 6th, Willie Nelson is at Red Rocks in Morrison on Friday the 8th, the Charlie Daniels Band at the Douglas County Fair in Castle Rock, CO on Saturday the 9th and, the same night, Sheryl Crow will be doing her thing at Red Rocks. Closer to home, Diamond Rio will be at the Hall County Fair in Grand Island on that same night, as will Jolie Edwards, Phil Bassar, and Shannon Brown at Riverside Fest in Milford. On Tuesday, the 12th, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sammy Hagar and The WaboRitas will be at Fiddler's Green. August will close out with k.d. lang at Botanic Garden in Denver and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Hope a good number of you are able to Rock and Roll until you drop this summer.
