Queen royalty

Tess Leverington (left) wears the tiara and sash of the new 2004 Southwest Nebraska Rodeo Queen. Leverington, the 16-year-old granddaughter of Jeanette LeDroit of North Platte, was crowned before the NSRA rodeo Friday night during the Red Willow County fair in McCook. The new princess is Jennifer Calvin, the 12-year-old daughter of Rod and Peggy Calvin of North Platte. In the princess division, Calvin won the speech, personality/appearance and horsemanship competitions. Paige Abrahamson of Axtell won the personal interview competition and was runner-up to Calvin for the princess honor. Leverington won each competition in the queen division; her runner-up was Kimberly Zimbelman of Madrid.
